Named for San Cristoforo, a municipality in the Piedmont region of Italy, this is a rare Italian heirloom pea. It originates from the traditional gardens of Northern Italy, preserved over generations for its unique history and culinary quality.
The flavour of this shelling pea is really delicious, producing long pods that contain 8–10 peas which are very sweet. It is a standout variety for those who prioritize high sugar content and tender texture in their harvest.
The plants are vigorous, with vines reaching about 4–5 feet in height. They are high producers, and the vines stay just covered in peas throughout the season.
