Bolognese Summer Squash

$5.00

Heirloom treasure from Italy, tracing its roots to the Bologna region in Emilia-Romagna. Unlike the long, slender zucchini we’re used to, these fruits are short and plump — halfway between a classic zucchini and a round courgette. Carefully selected over generations for their unique shape and flavour, they offer mild, creamy flesh with a fine texture, perfect for grilling, sautéing, or stuffing. Very rare. 50–60 dtm. 10 seeds.

Cucurbita pepo. Bolognese Summer Squash is a mix of a regular zucchini and a round variety.  I loved these fruits and found them to be buttery with an amazing flavour. All my plants had seed squash growing on them and they still kept producing! I eat ton of zucchini every summer due to needing huge gene pools for the seeds and I did not tire of eating this variety. It preserved well as I dried them and stored with olive oil for the winter months. I am shocked this is such a rare variety in Canada and not more widely grown.

These seeds are available directly from Garden Faerie Botanicals in the heart of British Columbia, Canada. The collection features heirloom and heritage seeds that are personally cultivated organically without the use of any chemicals. Emphasizing historical, rare, non-GMO seeds, this selection preserves biodiversity through open-pollination.
