Pisum sativum. Harrison’s Glory peas are an heirloom variety dating back to the early 1800s. Originally bred in England, they were widely grown for their excellent flavour and productivity. These plants grow to about 3-4 feet tall, producing straight pods with 5-8 peas each, known for their sweet taste and resilience to weather challenges. This variety was popularized in the 19th century and remains a favourite among gardeners and heritage seed enthusiasts for its rarity and historical significance.
I was impressed that this variety handled the heat and drought as well as it did. I was unable to water these guys and they got planted later than they should have. True survivors!
