This rare heritage muskmelon is the earliest variety I have ever found, maturing in 58 days! It is an heirloom from central Saskatchewan that is very productive and super early.
The fruit are small with a football shape with variable coloured but tasty fruit. I did not get much water to these plants and the fruit had a very nice sweet flavour. An amazing variety for short season areas.
How to grow:
Planting: Sow seeds directly in warm soil, ideally after the last frost when temperatures are consistently above 70°F (21°C). Melons need full sun and well-draining soil.
Spacing: Provide plenty of room for the vines to sprawl—space plants about 2 to 3 feet apart.
Watering: Melons need regular watering, but avoid overwatering as it can cause fruit rot. Drip irrigation or watering at the base is ideal.
Harvesting: Orange-fleshed melons are ready for harvest when they develop a sweet aroma and the blossom end gives slightly under pressure.
These seeds are available directly from Garden Faerie Botanicals in the heart of British Columbia, Canada. The collection features heirloom and heritage seeds that are personally cultivated organically without the use of any chemicals. Emphasizing historical, rare, non-GMO seeds, this selection preserves biodiversity through open-pollination.
