Carrot Seeds, Danvers Half Long
$4.00
Heirloom variety developed in the late 19th century in Danvers, Massachusetts and became popular for its adaptability and excellent storage qualities. Produces thick, conical, deep-orange roots about 6–8 inches long, with a sweet, rich flavour and a high carotene content.
I grew these as they thrive in heavy or shallow soils, where longer carrot types might struggle. I had worked the soil with a hand tool and did not dig it very deep at all. These carrots came out amazing! They are known for their strong tops, which make harvesting easier. Due to their excellent storage capacity, they have been a favourite among home gardeners and farmers for generations. 75 dtm. 100+ seeds per package.
